Cracked teeth come in many forms. The crack's type, location, and severity determine the treatment and outcome.

A cracked tooth, unlike a broken bone, will never heal. Even with high magnification and special lighting, determining the extent of a crack can be difficult.

A crown binds and protects a broken tooth. When a crack reaches the tooth root, root canal therapy is often required to save the pulp. Unfortunately, untreated cracked teeth will eventually lead to tooth loss.
