Strip Crowns
Pediatric Dentistry: A Brighter Smile with Strip Crowns
When it comes to treating cavities in your child's front baby teeth, there's a modern, natural-looking alternative to metal crowns—strip crowns, also known as “white crowns.” These aesthetic restorations are perfect for primary incisors with large cavities and are designed to blend beautifully with your child’s smile.
Here's how it works: a clear, plastic-like shell is filled with tooth-colored composite material and gently placed over the damaged tooth. Once the composite hardens, the shell is removed, leaving behind a durable, natural-looking crown that mimics the shape and color of a real tooth. With the right care and case selection, strip crowns can last two to three years—long enough to protect the tooth until it's ready to fall out naturally.
In cases where strip crowns aren't ideal, stainless steel crowns with a white front facing are also available—offering both strength and a more aesthetic appearance.
