Children's Tooth Development
The Exciting Journey of Children's Tooth Development
From their first gummy grin to their full set of baby teeth, kids go through an incredible dental adventure! Starting as early as three months old, little ones begin sprouting primary teeth—often called "baby teeth"—and by the time they're around three years old, most children have a full set of 20 tiny chompers.
As children grow and approach age six, their jaws begin to widen, making space for the arrival of permanent teeth. During this stage, baby teeth start to loosen as their roots naturally dissolve, allowing the adult teeth underneath to push through and take their place.
But don’t let the term "baby teeth" fool you—they play a big role! These first teeth help children chew food, learn to speak clearly, and smile with confidence. Just as importantly, they guide the proper placement of permanent teeth and help shape the contours of a child’s developing face.
